retrieving....

Its quite funny on how certain password retrieving process ask you some questions that would put a smile on your face and makes you go huh?

you see, as AirAsia have to give me my monthly allowance, the only best way that they can do it is by making their cadets (poor me!) open a specific bank account with a specific bank in Malaysia.. well, i personally don't see the reason behind it, but as i have to do it, i just did it... As a supplement to that account, i was given a free Tune Visa Card for God knows what reason and i only received it like 2 months after that... Anyway, i've been having some problem on activating the card so i only managed to take the extra effort to call up the card centre to activate it..

Operator : Ok Mr Soon, I need you to verify a few things with me before i can continue with the process.. May i know what is your I/C number??

Me: 901218-XX-XXXX

Operator : Thanks Mr Soon... May I know when is your date of birth?

Me : *giggled and paused for a few seconds*... its 18th Dec 1990... Didn't i just tell you my IC number?? can't you just get it from there??? stupid la you!

Operator : Thanks Mr Soon... May I know what is your mom's name?

Me :    o.0    my mom's name??? as in my mother??

Operator : Yes Mr Soon...

Me : *kept quiet for almost 5 seconds*

Well, its not that i don't know what is my mom's name, but how the hell she knows my mom's name, and why on earth she want that question... did i even provide my mom's name when i register the card?? funny la... why not my dad's or sister's name?

lol at 'stupid la you'.. omg feel so funny to imagine scolding a phone operator like that..

btw I supposed for verification purpose in the future, they will ask for your mother's name as well. i have encountered other membership cards of shopping centers & petrol stations require my mother's maiden name during registration.

I hate it when they ask for my mother's maiden name. I don't like them intruding into my personal (family) life. I'd prefer it if they asked for my postal address or postcode. Whenever they ask for my mom's name, I'd give them an awkward reply like, "Uhh... I was orphaned and adopted. Would you like my adoptive mother's name?". It usually shuts them up.

@evann, i like your trick... maybe i should just do that next time, if i encounter that bloody stupid question again... haha...

@rotiboy, i didnt exactly say STUPID LA YOU to her, but it was in my mind... i was wondering how stupid can her be not to know how to read from an I/C...

They know your mother's maiden name because you gave it to them when you filled up the application form.

It is a form of security identification. They don't ask for address and postcode for obvious reasons. People can get hold of your details easily now. This includes you father's name. Now they actually ask for more than just your mother's maiden name.

HAHA!!!!!! Don't la scold them..! It's all about the security purpose..every bank or anything would ask for "mother's name" instead of anyone else name.
Generally, mother is the one with different surname and what's not..
Besides, after all, that is not interogation. It is just a security measure.

You will face that more that often in the future...so, dont be mad or frustrated with that...this is famous worldwide!
